“It’s just late summer angst,” says my logical inner voice. For the past few days, I have been wrestling with an itchy urge to accomplish something productive – quickly followed by an equally strong wave of ennui.  I have tried to just push through it but it is so distinctly pedal-to-the-metal versus a two-footed-braking that I finally had to stop and analyze my emotions. For me, that always means taking a look at the astrology of the moment.

As I am writing this, the Sun (the self, purpose) is in the sign of Virgo (editorial, analytical, result oriented.)  OK, here is my “urge to purge”, my “get ‘er done” mentality. Directly opposite this energy is the planet Neptune (altered states, confusion, creativity) in the sign of Pisces (disconnected from reality, sensitive, imaginative.) So, the Sun in Virgo has a job for me to do and Neptune in Pisces has a big plate of daydreams instead.

Now that I know why I am lacking in motivation, despite a strong inner desire for results, I can work with it in a practical way. Which means small spurts of activity followed by longer periods of snacking, reading, and dreaming. Because this energy will continue to build until Tuesday (September 14) before gradually easing off, I have a couple of days to practice releasing my self-criticism whilst keeping my game plan flexible.

If you are feeling the push/pull of this alignment too, powering through it may sound like a good idea but I urge you to add in little refreshing pauses or a mini trip to the beach via a movie, novel, music, or even the real thing if possible. As with any opposition, balancing the two extremes is the key.
